Why did you choose education as your career?
After graduating college with a Biology degree, I prayed for God to open the door to a career and I got hired as a teacher. I knew after my first year teaching that this was the career I was meant to do. I love being able to teach students science, my favorite subject.
What is your key to success in the classroom?
The key to success in the classroom is building relationships with your students. Take the extra time to get to know students and care about their educational needs. Students will give 100% when they know their teacher cares if they succeed.
How do you engage students?
I engage students by presenting material through various teaching methods. I try to always teach through hands on, visual, and auditory activities. I constantly switch the lesson up within a class period. This helps students remain engaged and learning.
What do you love about teaching?
The thing I love most about teaching is being able to make an impact on students' lives. Even if it is only one student a year that I make a difference with, I still think that is success. Teaching is the best profession to have and make a difference in this world.
