Bens Branch Elementary celebrates Read Across America



March 3, 2017 | Thinking Innovatively | Students at Bens Branch Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America, a national celebration of reading on March 2.

Students read books by Theodor Seuss Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss, and other authors on a day of reading celebrated in schools across the nation. BBE also had a book fair the same week where students could purchase books and raise money for their campus media center.


Several New Caney ISD Board of Trustees attended the event and read books to students including Creg Mixon, Beth Prykryl, Chris Wootton and Alan Moreau Jr. Deputy Superintendent Matt Calvert, Director of Bilingual Education Dr. Pascual Yacovodonato and students from Porter High School Athletics also read books to students.


BBE will have their book fair on campus until March 10.
