White Oak students win Fall Prodigy Math Tournament

White Oak students win Fall Prodigy Math Tournament

Prodigy Math Games Jan. 31, 2017 | Academically Prepared | NCISD students are very excited when their teacher announces it is time to play Prodigy Math Games.

Prodigy Math Games is an online video game that requires students to work math problems to win prizes and beat monsters.  Students begin with a diagnostic test to identify their strengths; teachers then embed assignments and assessments as the students play.  The system automatically adjusts the level of difficulty as the students play.  Prodigy ensures that each student succeeds at their own pace.

New Caney ISD middle schools participated in a one month tournament during the fall semester.  Prodigy recognized the top three teachers and the winning teacher’s top 30 students.  Cheryl Westmoreland was recognized as the winning teacher. The top 30 students were recognized with a pizza party complements of Prodigy.

This month, the district begins another tournament for grades 3-8, which will run from Jan. 23 – Feb. 23. Prodigy will honor the teacher whose students answer the most questions and her top 30 students with “swag”, a pizza party, and a trophy for the school to display until the next contest.  Encourage your students to play in their free time.
