Two New Caney HS students sign to play at the university level

May 16, 2016 | Academically Prepared | New Caney High School hosted a college signing event in the library May 16 to celebrate two students committing to play sports at the university level.

Friends, family and coaches celebrated seniors Aldin Adamek and Clayton Jones at a signing ceremony which commemorated the continuation of the students’ athletic careers.

Jones signed to play golf for Texas A&M University and Adamek signed to play football for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

“This is the culmination of years of hard work, blood, sweat, and tears,” said Brent Sipe, director of sports activities and facilities. “When you started as freshmen, there were a lot of students.”

Sipe noted that at each grade level progression, fewer and fewer students participated on the athletic teams.

“Now, as you finish your high school career, you are taking a big next step,” said Sipe. “Congratulations to both of you and we are glad to be a small part of your high school career.”

Following the signing ceremony, Jones and Adamek posed for pictures with friends and family and enjoyed refreshments.
