Upcoming Event: Project Connections

Project Connections March 21, 2016 | Lifelong Learner |New Caney ISD juniors and seniors are invited to attend the 14th annual Project Connections event on April 19 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) complex.

This free event, sponsored by the local school districts, the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County and Lone Star College-Kingwood, allows high school juniors, seniors and their parents a chance to visit with various academic departments from LSC-Kingwood as well as some military institutions.

Seniors will have the opportunity to apply for scholarships from the Rotary Club of East Montgomery County. Applications are available from their high school counselors and are due on Friday, March 25. Scholarship drawings will be held at Project Connections and students must be present in order to win. Both juniors and seniors will be eligible for other fun door prizes just for attending.

“We are excited to once again offer this opportunity to the students and their families. With information tables for many of the academic programs available at LSC-Kingwood, information about financial aid and career planning, free food, scholarships and fantastic prizes, this is a really fun event for everyone that attends,” said Nicole Keenan, director of admissions and outreach at LSC-Kingwood. “We hope for a great turnout this year.”

LSC-Kingwood’s financial aid specialists will be present to provide information and to assist parents and students in the completion of applications for federal financial aid. In addition, representatives from LSC-Kingwood’s admissions and advising departments will conduct break-out sessions to answer questions about the application process and provide tips on how to select classes, develop an academic plan and be successful in college.
