Porter DECA advances to International Career Development Conference

PHS DECA advances to International Career Development Conference March 1, 2016 | Academically Prepared | For the third straight year, Porter DECA will be represented at the International Career Development Conference (CDC). Porter DECA took 21 students, a school record, to the Texas DECA CDC in San Antonio.

Students competed in events from International Business to Sports & Entertainment Marketing. Porter High School was well represented throughout the convention, putting their best foot forward in each event.

Among the awards brought home, Porter High School earned a runner-up position in the Community Service Project, spearheaded by Ashlynn Droddy and Kaitlyn Matthews.

The biggest awards came during the annual business meeting when Porter DECA picked up six spots at the prestigious THRIVE Academy for their efforts with their Membership, Community Service, and Promotional Campaigns. Spots for any of the academies at ICDC are extremely difficult to come by, as only 90 of about 13,000 students from Texas have the opportunity to attend.

New Caney ISD congratulates these students on their hard work and accomplishments.
