Jan. 26, 2016 | Lifelong Learner | Two of highest flying offenses this past season, New Caney and Crosby, were guided by a pair of senior quarterbacks.
Now both of those gunslingers have decided where they will play college football.
On Monday, Crosby’s Tristen Cotton committed to Texas Lutheran University, while New Caney’s Timmy Ware committed to Benedictine College just three days earlier.
In the past two seasons for Cotton both have been memorable for their own reasons.
As a junior, Cotton led the Cougars to the State Semifinals passing for 2,684 yards, while recording 19 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
In his senior year Cotton improved in lots of areas, including accuracy, touchdowns and cutting his interceptions in half.
Cotton finished his final year with Crosby leading them to the District 21-5A Championship with a 10-0 regular season record, while throwing for 2,275 yards, 28 touchdowns and seven picks. Cotton completed 65 percent of his passes in 2015.
For Ware it was a season to remember helping lead New Caney back to the playoffs for the first time since 2003.
Ware finished his senior season passing for 2,735 yards, completing 64 percent of his passes, while connecting for 32 touchdowns, while only throwing four interceptions.
"It's awesome to see Timmy Ware commit to Benedictine University over this past weekend," New Caney coach Brady Pennington said. "Timmy will do a great job for them and we are super excited about his opportunity to continue to play at the college level."
