Jan. 5, 2017 | Responsible Citizens | January is School Board Recognition Month, and New Caney ISD would like to thank these local leaders for their dedication and willingness to serve as advocates for our children and public schools. As elected officials, they are the voice of the community, serving first and foremost in the best interest of our children.
Texas has more than 5 million students in its public schools. That is 5 million young minds from about 5 years old to about 18 years old, and our state is attracting even more. Every year, the Texas student population increases by about 85,000 additional students. New Caney ISD has grown by more than 35% in the last five years and is one of the fastest growing school districts in Texas.
School Board members sit through meetings, read detailed reports, listen to parents’ concerns, and do the hard work to benefit the students and the community at large. They bring a variety of skills and backgrounds to their task, and they take their responsibilities seriously. The whole community benefits from their vigilance in providing good schools.
Each January, we pause in our regular activities to say thank you to these dedicated volunteers. We appreciate their generous sharing of time and energy on behalf of our children and our communities. Local school board members are an all-star team, focused on our schools. Join New Caney ISD in celebrating School Board Recognition Month in January by expressing your support and gratitude to them.
