We want to give you information regarding STAAR Test results, when they will be available, and how to access them. Parents will need their child's Unique Access Code and birth date to look up their scores. We will be sending an email to the students and the parent emails on file with the Unique Access Code information. You will visit www.texasassessment.com/students to see scores. 8th Grade Science and Social Studies STAAR Blitz happens each year to help prepare our students for STAAR!! Check out our video to see all of the amazing stations our 8th grade science and social studies teachers have put together! Our students attended the 2017 UIL Competition in Livingston,TX on Tuesday, April 18 and again on Saturday April 22. They competed in many different events and were able to take home 38 medals. Several of our students took home medals in more than one event! We are so proud of our students. Click on the heading for a list of students and their placement.
Several of our Civil Air Patrol Cadets completed their Emergency Services training this past weekend. Our cadets were learning basic outdoor survival skills. They went camping in tents and got to train along side some Air Force personnel. What an awesome weekend! Thank you, Major Hicks, for providing our students this great opportunity!
Last week New Caney FFA and Jr. FFA students participated in the Montgomery County Fair. Students exhibited steers, heifers, goats, lambs, and pigs in the livestock show and baked goods in the non-livestock show. Several students made the sale and all worked very hard and represented our chapter well!
We want to congratulate our NCMS Concert Band for earning a superior rating on stage at the Region 33 UIL Concert and Sightreading Contest. We are so proud of our students and our amazing band directors!

On Monday, March 20th, New Caney Jr. FFA competed in the Houston Livestock Judging Contest. There were 136 total teams and 428 individuals that competed in this contest. This is one of the largest and toughest contests in Texas that our kids compete at and we are very proud of them all! Please click on the headline title for results and pictures from the contest.
This year, our Science Fair contestants were made up of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. This was a great night of competition and a huge success. We were extremely proud of each student who competed and choosing our winners was a very tough decision. Click on the headline to view results and pictures.
We are very proud of our Girls Concert Choir. They went to competition on March 9, 2017, and received all 1s. A Sweepstakes trophy was awarded to our NCMS Girls Concert Choir. Again, we are so proud of you all!
New Caney Jr. FFA students had another successful contest! On Friday, March 3, students competed at the Matagorda County Fair Livestock Judging Contest. Results: 9th Place Team: (New Caney Middle) Hannah Haskins - 14th Haden King, Olivia Allen, & Dustin Galan. 17th Place Team: (New Caney Middle) Kye Holba, Pamela Cheek, & Justin Young. 18th Place Team: (New Caney Middle) Emily Almanza, Mariah Campuzano, & Angel Castillo.
On February 28, 2017, Ms. Reyes, the sponsor, and New Caney Middle School had their induction ceremony for the National Junior Honor Society. The following 6th grade students were inducted into the National Junior Honor Society for maintaining a 90 or above average in all of their classes: Frida Chavez, Kaeli Garza, Gabriela Ortiz, Miguel Rodriguez, and Kielar Sullivan. We are very proud of these students and their efforts to maintain their grades at a 90 or above to join this prestigious group of nationwide students.
