My name is Andrea Simer and I am delighted to be your child's counselor at Sorters Mill Elementary. This is my sixth year in New Caney ISD as a school counselor. I will be providing a comprehensive guidance program to grades PreK thru 5th grade. The program I provide will cover basic concerns children have at different stages of development. Some of the topics addressed will be on self-confidence, motivation to achieve, problem solving skills, interpersonal effectiveness, communication skills, cross-cultural effectiveness and responsible behavior. My main objective is to be here for your child and their academic needs. I hope their learning experience at SME is a happy and successful one.
Counseling Overview: The Sorters Mill counseling program goal is to provide a comprehensive and developmental program to all students. The school counselor is a professional advocate who works with the support of staff, parents and the community to address the academic, personal/social and career development of all students. The program seeks to support each student in maximizing his/her potential in order to become effective students, responsible citizens and lifelong learners.
Counselor Visit: I see students during classroom guidance lessons, small group and individual sessions. Students can arrange a meeting with me by asking their teacher. Parents and teachers may refer a student to the counselor by contacting me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or phone (281)577-8780.
