Welcome to the New Caney Elementary Jump Rope Team, "The Cardiac Kids," webpage!!!

    Guidelines:

Who:   2nd through 5th grade students who have tried out and made the team.

What:   The Cardiac Kids is a jump rope team that performs at various schools and events to demonstrate fun ways to jump rope using tricks and routines.  They usually perform at schools participating in Jump Rope for Heart to help show fun ways to stay healthy and strong; however, the students love to perform, so they also will perform at festivals and other public events.

When:    Practice is every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Practice will start the second week of school on Tuesday, September 12th, in the gym.  If the students ride a bus, they must eat breakfast in the cafeteria before practice, unless they eat breakfast at home.

How:  Try-outs - To join the team, Dr. Ford will review the students' abilities jumping the rope and if they have the potential to make the team, they will be invited to try out for the team.  The tentative schedule for try-outs is as follows:  5th grade - October; 4th grade - November; 3rd grade - February; 2nd grade - April or May.  This schedule is subject to change depending on the performances of the team.

Attendance:  Attendance is taken everyday, so if they do not show up for practices, they will not be allowed to perform.

Participation in other activities:   Students are allowed to participate in two club activities.  Dr. Ford and Mrs. Everton work closely together for those who are also in choir.  Students will go to choir on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to Jump Rope on Monday and Wednesday. Those in Safety Patrol will attend Jump Rope practice Tuesday and Thursday.

Requirements: All members must maintain a 70 or above grade point average and have good discipline.
