Middle School Gifted and Talented Services

New Caney ISD provides choices for all its students.  Parents of gifted students have the option of sending their middle school student to one of two programs.  Students may enroll in the SPARK Academy at Keefer Crossing Middle School or at White Oak Middle School.  Another option for parents is to send their child to the campus where they are already zoned  to participate in the ALPHA Program.

SPARK
(Students Pursing Academic Rigor and Knowledge
SPARK is a school within a school program designed specifically for gifted and talented middle school students in NCISD.  The SPARK program is offered at all four middle schools.  All SPARK teachers have received special training to understand the academic, social and emotional needs of GT learners.

All gifted and talented student in grades six through eight are served though our SPARK program.

GT students in SPARK are  cluster grouped together for their four academic Pre-AP classes:  science, social studies, ELA and math.  The curriculum is aligned vertically and horizontally across the disciplines for more in-depth thinking.

In addition to rigorous content, SPARK class assignments allow more choices for gifted learners to support and meet their specific academic and emotional needs.  Research projects will be facilitated through a core teacher and linked to one or more content areas.  There are also numerous field trips planned throughout the year for academic enrichment and college opportunities.
