Principal's Message

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome everyone to White Oak Middle School.  Whether you are a new student just enrolling or a returning student from last year, we are excited about the new school year. There have been many changes in the staff and the entire school setup that have taken place over the summer. I am certain that this school year will be one of the best ones yet!

The education of your child is something that the entire staff takes seriously.  Teachers, principals, support staff, and parents must all work together to ensure that your child receives  the best education possible.  I will have an open door policy for all parties to make sure the lines of communication are always available.  The school and parents  must be united for the success of every student.

White Oak Middle School will have a large variety of electives for your child’s participation.  I highly recommend  that you guide them in the choices that they make.  Involvement in extracurricular activities will enhance your student’s educational years in middle school and will give them an advantage in their future education.

I look forward to meeting new faces and seeing familiar ones this year!  As always, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Everett Simons

  • Statement Regarding Open Carry of Handguns by License Holders

On January 1, 2016, legislation enacted by the 84th Texas Legislature permitting the open carry of properly holstered handguns by licensed individuals becomes effective. This legislation does not affect the possession of prohibited weapons, including, but not limited to, handguns by license holders, as set forth in federal and state law regarding school district property. In addition to the general prohibition of firearms on school district property by the Federal Gun-Free Schools Act, state law prohibits the possession of prohibited weapons “on the physical premises of a school or educational institution, any grounds or building in which an activity sponsored by a school or educational institution is being conducted, or a passenger transportation vehicle of a school or educational institution.” Tex. Penal Code § 46.03(a)(1). Even individuals licensed to carry a handgun are subject to this prohibition. Additionally, license holders could be subject to separate criminal offenses for criminal trespass when proper notification is posted, and/or for carrying a handgun, concealed or openly carried in a holster, on a premises where a high school sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place. Tex. Penal Code §§ 30.06, 30.07, 46.035(f). Thank you for your anticipated compliance. The District will continue to enforce these prohibitions in order to promote the safety and security of all NCISD students and staff.
